My clients, a couple of artists with an innovative vision, wanted to incorporate contemporary architecture into their project.

Most cities generally require that additions or accessory dwelling units adhere to the same architectural style as the main house in terms of materials and cannot be taller than the existing structure. The city of Culver City has a different approach, which made this project possible.

The 4,802 sq ft lot, which already contained a 956 sq ft single-family home and a 240 sq ft garage, was augmented with a 417 sq ft accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and an 82 sq ft mezzanine.
